The great tiredness

I napped for almost an hour earlier and I slept almost nine hours last night and still I am ready to head for bed and it’s only 9 pm. I might have been in serious deficit on my sleep account.

Dear grandmother managed to fall and hurt her wrist and ribs after getting here, usually not a huge problem except she only has one leg and uses crutches to get around. So she wasn’t really up to navigating the metro so I drove her and the others around today, did more city driving than I’ve done before and it went splendidly. Even managed to parallel park on the first try!

After being so social for two days I am staying home tomorrow and doing some much needed house work. And some fun things, like planting chilli-seeds and maybe doing some knitting!

Happy Birthday grandma!

Today was my Friday and the reason for that is that today is also my paternal grandmothers 80th birthday, I am taking tomorrow off to be able to get her and my dad from the airport and deliver them to town. Later we are all having dinner at my sisters. This is something that happens very rarely, me and my siblings live down here and dad and grandma up north. Also we are a family of introverted homebodies who do love each other dearly but can’t seem to get around to meeting that often. It works for us.

So, looking forward to this weekend!

Glitterball spaceships and pizza

Today was the day Sweden picked their contestant for the Eurovision Song Contest, there’s been qualifications on the last five Saturdays where the ten finalist were chosen and tonight it was decided. Now, usually I don’t listen to the kind of music that features in this competition but still it’s something I watch each year, I read up on the contestants and speculate wildly all the way through. It’s all in good fun!

This year I invited a bunch of people to watch with me but sadly all but one couldn’t make it. It was really no worry through as I still discussed the competition over Skype, WhatsApp and imessage with three different people. I couldn’t keep up with twitter at the same time so ‘dreas just read me tidbits. It wasn’t as good as having your friends there for it but it was still awesome. And we didn’t have to share the pizza!

As for the results, well, it was very close, I like that, but the fact that the winner plays fast and loose with the English language makes me wish Ace Wilder had won over Sanna instead of the other way around. Alcazars glittery discoball spaceship thing would have done well in Europe though, and it was by far the best show.

Tomorrow I am heading into town to meet my mother and sister. I might do an improvised One Photo An Hour just because it’s been a while since I did and it seems like a day with enough different things that it will be at least remotely interesting!

Punkish Patterns

So I am entertaining the notion that I am going to make myself a steampunk costume for Swecon next year and thus I am in serious want of this knitting book, Needles and Artifice. Not only does the name sound awesome but the patterns! Seriously I could make a whole lot of them.

My favorites at this moment are this vest:

Abundance Vest – I would probably make it in grey or a dark jewel color depending.

And this top:

Resilience Top – It’s knitted in lace yarn which is a bit scary but then again I don’t think it’s worse than a shawl.

Now I just need to find the pennies to buy the whole book, I don’t think I would regret it!
